Eugene's Story and Background

Eugenie HR was founded by Eugene Fung, CPHR, SHRM, on the core belief that strong people practices are fundamental to the success of any organization, regardless of its size or stage of development. Born in Hong Kong, raised in the United Kingdom, and now based in Vancouver, Canada, Eugene has always been adaptable and creative, bringing fresh and personalized HR solutions to each organization he works with. 

Eugene’s Human Resources career includes both in-house HR and HR Consulting, working with agile small businesses and established multinational organizations. This background provides Eugene with a diverse understanding of HR and the unique challenges organizations face as they grow and evolve. Eugene’s direct experience includes establishing HR functions from the ground up, and expertly guiding organizations through critical transitions, such as navigating HR integration following mergers and acquisitions. These experiences position Eugene as a trusted partner for growing, start-up, and smaller organizations, offering the dedicated HR expertise they need to thrive without the immediate commitment of a full-time hire. 

Eugene's academic background includes a strong foundation in Psychology and an MSc in Work Psychology & Business from Aston University. This education, coupled with his designation as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), provides him with a deep understanding of human behavior and continuesto influencehis approach to develop and deliver HR solutions that balance people, organizational goals and ethical practices.

Beyond his passion for Human Resources, you might find Eugene exercising at Gold's Gym, lifelong learning in history, singing with two choirs, volunteering with Vancouver's Chinese Community Policing Centre, participating in CPHR events, singing with the Vancouver Welsh Men's Choir and Coast Mountain Men's Chorus, or discovering Vancouver's best undiscovered restaurants.
