In Atlanta, the fight to Stop Cop City has taken on many shapes and dimensions: protests, direct actions, litigation, a referendum campaign, and much more. In turn, the fight has turned national, and a Nationwide Summit is planned for late February in Tucson, AZ.
Meanwhile, governments across the country are planning their own cop cities, often quietly, through obscure channels, and with million-dollar price tags. This includes places like Nashville, TN; Lacey, WA; and Baltimore, MD. As projects keep popping up, we can learn lessons from current and past movements to continue the national struggle against all cop cities.
Join us for a panel with researcher Renee Johnston, who has been documenting cop cities across the country; Community Movement Builders, active in Atlanta's Stop Cop City movement; the Southern Movement Committee, fighting MALETA in Nashville; and others involved in the fight against police expansion in the country. Moderated by NLG Director of Mass Defense, Xavier T. de Janon.
