Fashion’s Future is sustainable

SA Fashion Week leads the charge to galvanise local brands, the designer community, and retailers to embrace the increasingly urgent global move towards a sustainable fashion ethos. This will enable consumers to adopt planet-friendly fashion consumption in turn.

Setting a target of operating fully within a slow fashion culture by 2025, the platform has introduced mandatory Circular Fashion principles for all its prestigious competitions such as New Talent Search, Scouting Menswear and Student Competition. This serves as a huge incentive for younger designers to explore and adopt the many facets of this new approach such as low-environmental impact fabric, design, and production.
