About Mel.

First of all I’d simply like to say thank you for taking the time to view my work.

My introduction to photography came somewhat unexpectedly during my years of family planning. I became encompassed by the birth world and every aspect that came along with it. Beginning doula work helped me realize that supporting families through the childbearing year was not just a career but a passion. Adding photography to document their journeys gave me another way to connect with the families I served. What started by chance has turned into my calling.

I understand the value of connecting with you & your littles to see what is truly important and I’ll capture your love in the most authentic way I can. The name Sommessa came to be from that intention.
