In Pictures: Nobiskrug's hybrid superyacht Artefact on sea trials

Following the launch of its 80-metre hybrid superyacht Artefact last month, Nobiskrug put its latest project to the test out on the Baltic Sea last week as the delivery of this technical marvel approaches ahead of her world premiere In Monaco next month. These exclusive images by photographer Francisco Martinez show the yacht out at sea for the first time.Artefact yacht by Nobiskrug sea trialsPhoto: Francisco Martinez

Designed by Canadian Gregory C. Marshall, Artefact is characterised by a multifaceted exterior that combines sculptural shapes and hull cut-outs to create a multi-dimensional effect as the yacht is viewed in different light. Using composite materials to build the superstructure made this flexibility in the design possible and provided crucial weight savings needed from the huge amounts of glass (some 750 square metres of glass weighing in at 58 tonnes) around the yacht. Artefact yacht by Nobiskrug sea trialsPhoto: Francisco MartinezArtefact yacht by Nobiskrug sea trialsPhoto: Francisco Martinez

Built to the latest IMO Tier III regulations, Artefact is equipped with a sophisticated hybrid propulsion system that relies on power from various generators on board and an array of Lithium-ion batteries, making her up to 30% more efficient in the water than conventional diesel propulsion yachts in her class. These are coupled to the twin ABB compact azimuthing pods which also provide full Dynamic Positioning capabilities. In addition, 23 square metres of solar panels on the sundeck hardtop provide around 6kW of auxiliary power.Artefact yacht by Nobiskrug sea trialsPhoto: Francisco Martinez

The interior, of which very little information has been released thus far, is the work of Reymond Langton and will be unveiled during Artefact’s world premiere during this year’s Monaco Yacht Show.Artefact yacht by Nobiskrug sea trialsPhoto: f
