DIBS 2019: Oceanco reveals new 105m Esquel explorer yacht concept

On the opening day of this year’s Dubai International Boat Show, Oceanco has unveiled a striking new 105-metre expedition yacht concept named. Designed by Timur Bozca and Gina Brennan, Esquel is created for adventurous owners looking to cruise the remotest regions of our planet in the comfort and safety expected from an Oceanco superyacht in a sub-5,000 GT package.Oceanco Esquel superyacht conceptPhoto: Oceanco

Esquel is equipped with a sophisticated diesel-electric propulsion framework that is engineered by Lateral to deliver dependable green power no matter where the yacht finds itself. With a range of 7,000 nm at 13 knots, no destination is out of reach for this world explorer. Oceanco Esquel superyacht conceptPhoto: Oceanco

To allow Esquel to safely cruise in polar regions, she has been designed with an ice-strengthened hull and Polar Classification. In addition, an advanced dynamic positioning system further reduces Esquel’s footprint by removing the need for an anchor in marine sensitive areas. Oceanco Esquel superyacht conceptPhoto: Oceanco

To match the yacht’s extreme cruising capabilities, the design team created a true home-away-from-home vessel where guests can realistically and comfortably spend prolonged periods on away from civilisation. “While the exterior of the expedition yacht is very masculine and modern, the interior is stylish and warm with comfortable furniture to create the feeling of a home away from home,” says Brennan.Oceanco Esquel superyacht conceptPhoto: Oceanco

Designed with a flexible layout to match various owners’ requirements, the overall theme is one of comfortable family living and exceptional views to the outside. A grand panoramic portal in the master suite will be the first sight that greets the owner each morning while a lounge and cosy fireplace become the perfect way to wind down after a day in the wild. Connectivity with the outside world was another priority in the design phase and Esquel remains as connected in the Arctic as she is in Monaco or New York.Oceanco Esquel superyacht conceptPhoto: OceancoOceanco Esquel superyacht conceptPhoto: Oceanco

The flexible interior and exterior deck layout means Esquel can also be set up to support marine conservation efforts by hosting several laboratories, workshops and scientists on board.Oceanco Esquel superyacht conceptPhoto: OceancoOceanco Esquel superyacht conceptPhoto: Oceanco

The striking exterior is the work of Timur Bozca who drew a profile from one connected shape that gives Esquel her bold appearance. “My inspiration for Esquel was a space rocket,” he explains. “While her lines are stately and chic, she is clearly a no-nonsense, high-tech, go- anywhere vessel that would be equally comfortable in the Med or in the Arctic Circle."Oceanco Esquel superyacht conceptPhoto: Oceanco
