@help-Zane-recover Profile Picture Help Zane Recover from his Second Spinal Reconstruction Surgery help-Zane-recover

We are posting on behalf of Zane. He caught a bad case of Covid on top of recovering from his spinal reconstruction surgery, and hasn’t been able to respond to all the messages of support. The world famous surgeon in Minnesota, completely rebuilt most of his spine with rods, screws, and cadaver bone. They had to hand suture and sow back together parts of his back. The pictures would make you queasy. Zane has been in constant pain for 7 years. In 2018 a surgery was supposed to fix everything so he could have a normal life. But 4 years ago Zane was left crippled and in the dark, following the spine surgery that was not only done incorrectly, but it was recently discovered, they attempted the completely wrong surgery in the first place. Zane was left with constant, terrible pain. All of his efforts, including physical therapy, these last 4 years, was making his constant pain worse, because they deformed most of his spine and didn’t disclose this to Zane.

A separate famous spine surgeon, who co-authors textbooks used to teach spine surgery, said the medical mistakes that were made on Zane’s back were some of the worst he’s ever seen, for someone Zane’s age. That for his age, Zane’s situation these last 4 years is one of the worst, most painful cases he’s ever encountered in 35 years, and could have been completely avoided had they not done the wrong surgery. While he’ll never be as good as he could have been, if the correct surgery had been done in 2018. We are so grateful for this miracle surgery and that his spine could be rebuilt.

Zane has a second chance at life, but could use your help. There are some things insurance won’t cover, there are a lot of other costs, and Zane will need to pay to travel back and forth from Utah to Minnesota for follow-ups with his surgeon.
