MAKE Roanoke has already raised nearly $10,000 from individual contributions, membership dues, class fees and more. We’re currently negotiating a lease for a location in the heart of Roanoke. We’ve also received some generous donations of equipment, but we need YOUR HELP to cross the finish line!

We reached our initial funding goal in under 18 hours, but we're not finished yet! Any additional funds raised will go towards getting bigger and better tools for the space. The first stretch goal is for a CNC router!

MAKE Roanoke is teaching a beginner level 3D Modeling course on Friday, November 22 from 6-9pm at VWCC in the STEM Building, Room ST115.

In this introductory 3D modeling class, students will learn essential concepts and techniques to create their own digital models. Through hands-on practice, they’ll model a LEGO Technic brick and discover fundamental tools like sketching, extrusion, and reading technical drawings to create precise designs. By the end of the session, students will be equipped with foundational skills to start bringing their design ideas to life in 3D.

This class will be taught Nick Dunne, Samuel Sullivan, Brian Alexander and Ettelie Lovern. It will be taught at Virginia Western Community College STEM Building Room ST115. It will be in a computer lab, so all the required software is preinstalled and no laptop is required. However, if you have a laptop with CAD software already installed, feel free to bring it.

This class is recommended for ages 16 and up. Attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited, so sign up now!

NOTE: If you would like to use Fusion 360, please create a free hobbyist account beforehand, as it will require a login.
