NeophyteID App

NeophyteID is an AI-powered application for identifying invasive (neophyte) plant species in Kerala and the Western Ghats. Developed by Aleem Yoosuf N., a researcher at the Malabar Botanical Garden and Institute for Plant Sciences (MBGIPS), it was launched by  Minister for Industries, Law and Coir in the Government of Kerala P. Rajeev, during the inaugural session of 38th Kerala Science Congress held at Ernamkulam Jan 30 - Feb 02, 2026. 

It uses the YOLOv11 machine learning model for instant image recognition - snap a photo via camera or upload from gallery to detect invasives among 98+ species trained in the database. Geospatial tracking adds your location to build real-time distribution maps for research and conservation.
