Rakeem is a presenter on BBC Radio 1Xtra, covering daytime shows live from Birmingham. He was the former breakfast show presenter at BBC Radio WM & he has interviewed the likes of Prime Minister Kier Starmer & former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Sir Lenny Henry, RAYE, Sharon Osbourne & lots more. In 2020, Rakeem was selected as part of the nationwide search for BBC Radio 1 Christmas presenters. He returned to cover a month of Friday early breakfast, multiple Radio 1's Big Weekends & weekend breakfast shows.

As a television presenter, he has worked with BBC Morning Live & with news programmes such as BBC Midlands Today. He has also presented at some of the nation's biggest events, including Table Tennis at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Birmingham Festival, TEDx, Birmingham Weekender & Christmas lights switch-ons. His experience in entertainment has led to hosting celebrity red-carpet interviews at The Mobos, Pride of Birmingham Awards, the Transformers premiere in London's Leicester Square & the Man Like Mobeen premiere for the BBC.

As a Channel 4 Investigative Journalism MA alumnus, Rakeem is passionate about sharing stories of those from underserved communities. He is an award-winning & multi-award-nominated journalist in both print & television. He won the Reporting Communities Award from the prestigious Society Of Editors Regional Press Awards. Rakeem was mentioned as one of 2023’s Black British trailblazers by The Independent. He was nominated for both the NCTJ's Community News Project Award & Newcomer of the Year by the Midlands Media Awards. 

Rakeem's articles have been published in the Birmingham Mail, The Lad Bible, and The Mirror.

He is a passionate storyteller. BBC England has commissioned his pitches for television & he was nominated for Journalist of the Year at the Royal Television Society Midlands Awards. He has worked in production with BBC One, BBC Three, Channel 4 & MTV, on documentaries & current affairs programming.
