ABOUT ME
π¨π³ I was born on the eastern coast of Guangdong, in Shantou China.
πͺπΈ Background When I was 2, my parents migrated to Spain to pursue their careers as microbiologists.
Growing up in a science lab in Madrid, I remember extracting chlorophyll from plants into a test tube, and passing them to Dad, to spin inside a centrifuge. Then after I extracted enough chlorophyll, I would take a break in the courtyard (I was 5 years old at the time), and sit under the pine tree. I would pick up pine nuts and crack them open using rocks. That was my afternoon snack, I would sit there for hours and I loved it. My parents also showed me which flowers I could pluck to obtain sweet honey-like nectar to suck on. I learned to make apple pie in primary school and seeing those egg whites become merengue is still one of my most vivid memories from childhood, just as vivid as my teacher turning white granulated sugar into caramel for a school festival. I think you know how this story goes, this led to that and that led to me working in the food industry.
π€ But it wasn't as clear-cut as that.
π Upbringing My parent's work took us all over the world and I had the privilege to grow up in Spain, New York, Singapore, China, and Australia. As eccentric as my upbringing was, so was my career.
π©π» Career I've built, & launched start-ups for over a decade. I love the energy, the challenges, and constant growth that entrepreneurship creates. From film and entertainment (specializing in the production and distribution of Anime and Pop Culture + working in SPFX make-up on movie sets) to Fine Dining (the Melbourne branch of Dinner by Heston Blumenthal), to manufacturing and selling premium tea, to starting my own sustainable food and skincare business, to discovering a passion for technology and innovation in human-centered design. My husband and I spent 2 years in NYC, where I immersed myself in the food-tech industry.
πDigital Nomad-ing My husband and I became digital nomads and called 15 countries 'home'. During this remote-work journey, I got involved with web3 projects and my current focus is to empower great companies and individuals at the frontier of tech and human connection. We reside in Sydney, but we will always feel at 'home' traveling the world.
